It's an Election Year, what to do, what to do, what to do!!??!!

Are you tired of it yet? There has got to be a better way than the way we do it now. Sometimes I think Detroit street gangs in the ‘60s had the right idea. They settled leadership issues with a fight. No weapons, no help; as many who wanted to compete could. When it was settled, the winner was locked in for two years (more or less) before he could be challenged again. Now seriously, wouldn’t it be a guilty pleasure to see the leading party candidates in a wrestling steel cage match battling it out for the Presidency? No spin about past policies, no attack ads, no junk mail or endless political commercials; just elbow drops, body slams and head butts. I can dig it!
However, our current system does work, no matter how annoying it can be. There are a couple of things you should take into consideration:
1) When all the talking heads get on your nerves take a “news-fast”.
• Don’t listen to the major news networks, avoid the articles in the newspapers, and stay away from talk radio. Just don’t listen. We know, for the most part, the Television Media is biased as well as Talk Radio, avoid it!!!
• Find a local Christian Radio station that has a Music format. If there is none in your area, go to either http://www.kobc.org (the radio station for Ozark Christian College), or http://www.klove.com and listen on-line.
• When you are driving - listen to music, books or teaching tapes or CD’s. I pray when I drive. (Since I have trouble with my right leg, anybody riding with me prays also.)

2) When it comes to making your choices, do your homework about the candidates and issues and let common-sense rule. Does God have this election under control? Romans 13:1 tells us He does have it under control...“Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities for there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.” Does that mean we shouldn’t vote or even care since God is going to put in office who He wants? What color is the sky in your world? (Did I say that out loud?) We are His voice on this planet and He will work His will through us! He needs us to fulfill our obligation so he can work through us!

3) If someone who you do not agree with gets elected, accept it and go on with life. Remember, “those which exist are established by God.” The person put in office is put there because God has ordained it. Paul told Titus, “Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.” (Chapter 3, Verse 1) Do not harm your standing in the Kingdom or your witness with a poor attitude because of God’s Will for this nation! Always, in all things live your lives in worship to God, for His glory!!
