Facing the Truth - July 10, 2009

“Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm!
Nothing is too difficult for You, who shows lovingkindness to thousands, but repays the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their children after them.
O great and mighty God The LORD of hosts is His name; great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, giving to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds who has set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and even to this day both in Israel and among mankind; and You have made a name for Yourself, as at this day.” Jeremiah 17:17-20

Did you ever wonder why people try to hide from God? They feel like they can do something wrong and as long as they don’t confess it or talk about it God won’t know. I have actually talked with people who believed that they wouldn’t be responsible for their sin if they didn’t talk about it! How wrong can you be about something?????
The only person any “wronger” (I know it isn’t a word. That’s why I put those “” around it) is the Christian who claims that they no longer sin! Jeremiah clearly tells us that God’s “eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men”.
God knows and sees our hearts and He understands us!! Do you hear me people – He understands us!! He doesn’t look down on us and condemn us…He understands our hearts and He will forgive us IF we check our pride at the door and allow Him the opportunity to cleanse us with the Blood – again.
We really, really want our relationship with God to be something hard or mystical; after all He is God, the Creator, the Lamb and the Fire.
> It should be difficult, shouldn’t it? I mean to talk to Him. Then you have all these crazies who tell you God wants to be your friend. Why would He want me for a friend? No thanks, I will just stand over here in this corner with my candle and stay out of the way. Let’s not wake God up over this…<
Ever find yourself talking like this? Trying not to get God’s attention? Hoping that He will continue to let you live your life your way! You think you can hide from God; but you can’t. He knows. Because He wants you to love Him the way He loves you – He will not make you change if you don’t want to change. But…He won’t save you from the earthly reactions to you sin. If you die in that sin, you will be punished for that sin. You can not hide from God because He sees, knows and understands! He will reward you according to your deeds – good or bad. I am just facing the truth!

Do I hide from God? I try not too. Every inappropriate thought I have, He is witness too. Every hurtful word hits His ears before they leave my mouth. I realized along time ago, I couldn’t hide from God, so I quit trying. Life has been a lot easier since then!

About God wanting to be your friend…“Greater love has no one than this that he lay down his life for his friends. (Christ Laid down His life for you!) You are my friends if you do what I command. (We need to be willing to lay down our life for Him.) I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:13-15 (NIV)
God calls us friend!!!
