A small group agreement form

Years ago, when I started my first discipleship small group, I found this small group commitment. It resulted in a more cohesive group that I have ever witnessed before. I dug it up this week while getting ready for an 8-week Sunday School class. I thought I'd make it available to anyone who wants to use it. I wish I had written down the source material that I pulled it from. If I can figure that out, I will update the file with attribution. I apologize for my shortsightedness.

Here is a PDF version of the agreement.

Here is the text:

We Agree

Attendance: We will be here whenever possible.

Ownership: We will share responsibility for the group.

Accountability: We give permission to the other group members to hold us accountable for goals we set for ourselves.

Listen/Share/Accept: We are here to listen and share with each other, but we are not here to solve each others problems.

Confidentiality: We agree to keep in the group what is shared in the group.

I commit:

Theology Rocks Show #43 - "The Commitments We Make -- Not Just to Each Other, But to God"

When we say, "I do," there's more than the commitment we're making to our spouse. There's more than the commitment we make before those witnesses. When we say, "I do," we make a commitment to God. When we say, "Come into my heart," we're not just making a commitment to God, but we're also making a commitment to God to care for our brothers and sisters.

There are things in those words we will never understand, but we need to understand what we can. We need to take our commitment to the Church (fellow believers) seriously. The commitment we made to each other before God, and in His name.

Tell someone about the show:
- If you like the show, tell a friend about it!
- If you don't like it, tell someone you don't like!

Send us feedback:
- In either case, you can send us feedback by email at feedback@opendiscipleship.org.
- You can also engage in our Open Forums at the web site.
- You can call and leave us voicemail at our voice line (206) 339-3163 (calling from your cell is probably free).
- If you're as geeked as Jody, you can record your question or comment and email it to us at the feedback address.
- You could send a fax to the voicemail number above, if you wanted to....

You can subscribe to this podcast at iTunes: iTunes
You can subscribe to our RSS feed: RSS feed

“Theology Rocks - truths to stand on” is a production of OpenDiscipleship.org, "teaching great truths to trustworthy people who are able to pass them on to others."

“Theology Rocks - truths to stand on” is... Simple, clear talk about theological truths for Christians. A conversation between two Christian brothers about all kinds of theological issues, daily issues with theological implications, and how Christianity should permeate every aspect of the Christian's life.
